Makes 4 small glasses
This, I believe, is the cure-all for overindulgence, general health, lowering blood pressure, etc. In other words it can raise the dead! Do not leave out the ginger or the whole lemon, it gives the ingredients structure and makes it an enjoyable adult drink.

You will need

1 large raw carrot, unpeeled
1 medium beetroot, unpeeled
2 celery sticks
¼ cucumber, unpeeled
1 apple, unpeeled
2.5 – 3 cm piece of fresh ginger
¼ fresh lemon, skin and all

Ina’s Tip

If using a liquidiser, add 1/2 cup (125ml) of water in with the vegetables.


Top and tail the carrot and beetroot. Cut everything into smallish pieces and toss together.
Set up the juicing machine, feed the mixed vegetables and fruit through.
Best enjoyed within an hour of making.
