Healthy Fresh Juices

Fresh juices are not only for the ‘health nuts’! Make them part of your regular diet. We invested in a Nutri Bullet a while ago. It is super-fast and convenient to use for both fruit and vegetable juices. In the Pineapple and Orange juice you can reduce the ginger to taste and leave out the cayenne, but ginger has many health benefits and cayenne pepper helps to speed up your metabolism.

You will need

1 pineapple with fronds
3 cups (750 ml) fresh orange juice
2 – 3 cm piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated
½ t (2.5 ml) cayenne pepper
1 – 2 granadillas

1 medium beetroot, scrubbed and cubed
1 ripe pear, washed and cubed
2 cups (500 ml) apple juice
1 cup (250 ml) boxed or fresh grapefruit juice
fresh mint to garnish

Method

Pineapple and Orange Juice with Ginger

Prepare the pineapple by cutting it in ¼ sections with fronds, keep two for a garnish. Peel the remaining pineapple and cube

Place pineapple, orange juice, grated ginger and cayenne pepper into a liquidiser and liquidise all the ingredients except the granadilla. Add granadilla and stir through.

Serve chilled.

 

Beetroot, Pear and Grapefruit Juice

If you have a Nutribullet, put the beetroot and pear cubes into the holding vessel, add the apple and grapefruit juices and spin until absolutely smooth. Chill in fridge.

Serve in a decanter with ice cubes and fresh mint.
